Historical Note

The Huntress (Bark) was built at Mattapoisett, MA in 1856. From 1862-1863, the bark sailed under Captain Arunah Whelden for Bates & Co; in the same years, the vessel undertook voyages between ports in the United States, Mauritius, China, and Japan.
