Historical Note

The Starr King was a clipper ship that was active in 1854-1862 and sailed for Bates & Co. in Boston. The ship sailed to Boston, San Francisco, Valparaiso, Callao, Melbourne, and Singapore. The captains known to be active on this ship are George H. Turner (1854-58), Ellery (1860), R. Canfield (1861-62), and England (1862). The ship was sold at Singapore in 1862.
