Historical Note

The American bark Juniata was built at Pittston, ME in 1845. Captains known to be active on the vessel are Daniel C. Child (1845-47), George B. Cook (1848), Phinney (1854), George Lovell (1855), and E.M. King (1856). From 1854-1858, the vessel sailed to Boston, Buenos Aires, Bahia, Gibraltar, Trieste, Baltimore, Port Elizabeth in South Africa, Calcutta, and Manila.
