Daybook B, 1849-1850

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 5
Identifier: SERIES I.

Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Series I. "Eben Hutchinson and Brother James" Company Business Records includes a ledger, account books, a combination stock list (for only a single year)/receipt book (for a list of items bought by Eben at auction), and two sets of daybooks. The daybooks overlap in chronological order quite frequently, yet they contain different entries for the same days. Both books contain payments to sole makers and leather salesmen, as well as entries for who bought what kinds of shoes, how many, and the price that they paid. The handwriting is identical in both. The two series of daybooks have been labeled Daybooks A and B. There exists a rather large gap between 1814 and 1834 and also between 1840 and 1846. Of special note in the Stock List/Receipt Book is a list of Whigs and Democrats.
