18-footers off Marblehead, MA, July 4, 1903
Scope and Content Note
The Herman Parker Collection of Glass Plate Negatives contains glass plate negatives in four different sizes, film negatives, and an autochrome with patented B. J. Diascope, all imaged by Herman Parker. The majority of the images were taken from his family's summer home, "Redgate" on Marblehead Neck, Massachusetts, looking across the harbor toward the town side. Most are of boats and yachts in Marblehead, but also include images of his family and their summer house, pets, and a portrait of himself. There is also an image of Fort Andrew (Plymouth, Mass.), the U.S.S. Brooklyn, a model of a fishing schooner, the Eastern Yacht Club and the Corinthian Yacht Club. Two prints of yachts (negative numbers 19 and 20) can be found in Box 1.
