Scope and Content Note
The Joseph B. Felt Papers contains sermons, diaries, letters, and copies of diplomatic correspondence. It has been arranged into two series. Series I. Personal Papers contain Rev. Felt’s diaries, letters and sermons as well as historical documents he collected. Boxes 3, 4, and 5 each contain a single volume with letters and documents pasted in by a librarian at an earlier date. Material has been listed by page number for easy reference. Series II. Diplomatic Correspondence contains handwritten copies of correspondence between Thomas Jefferson and various ambassadors (1791-1794) and correspondence between other diplomatic officials (1785-1794). It is unknown how or why these copies came to be in the Joseph B. Felt collection.
