Scope and Contents

Series III. Joseph A. Young Papers contains accounts of expenses, bills and receipts, business-related and personal correspondence, contracts, an examination of the crew by the Vice Consulate of the United States, payment receipts, insurance documents, and a note of protest. There are also some maritime-related ephemera, such as a circular for the Seamen's Institute, a notice to shipmasters, a blank charter party, and a catalog of ship chandlery and stores.
