Carleton Bros. & Co. Ledger, 1888-1896
Scope and Contents
Series IV. Family Papers and Records includes records from other businesses run by the Carleton family, as well as personal papers from Carleton, Norwood & Co.'s partners. Materials are arranged with business materials first, then personal papers. Business records are arranged chronologically, and personal papers are arranged chronologically by creator.
Materials included in this series offer a different perspective of the ways in which the Carleton family's lives were interwoven with the local community. The business records in this series include ledgers from Carleton Brothers & Company, an inventory of furniture and other materials in the Carleton House hotel, and S.D. Carleton's ledger for the Knox County Lime Association, for which he served as a trustee. The personal papers offer a brief insight into P.J. Carleton's substantial involvement with two fraternal organizations: the Masons and the Mecadecut Tribe, No. 7. Personal documents from Ralph W. and Frank P.J. Carleton are also included in the series.
