The Moses Stockman Business Records collection is comprised of one box of business records from 1830-1892, detailing business transactions of a merchant in nineteenth-century Newburyport, Massachusetts. This collection is divided into four series.

Series I. Account Books contains six account books. The first book (1830-1854) contains records of the purchase of tools, general goods, freight costs, animals, rents, foodstuffs, cash accounts, and stable expenses. The second book (1833, 1848-1851), dated 1833 on the cover with entries beginning in 1848 and running until 1851, contains records for the purchase of foodstuffs and deadeyes for a ship. The third book (1849-1852) is in fragile condition and contains records of cash payments and accounts. The fourth booklet (1858-1875) contains cash, dividends, records of bedstead sales, purchases of shares of schooners, and schooner expenses. The fifth book (1865-1874) is very fragile, has a marbled cover, and contains account expenses, primarily foodstuffs. The sixth book (1871-1874) contains records of loans, payments, bedsteads, and other furniture.

Series II. Financial Records is divided into two subseries. Subseries A. Business and Household Records contains receipts, bills, invoices, dues, and checks pertaining to newspapers (Daily Herald, New York Observer, Daily Evening Union), taxes (city, state, and national), rent, stationery goods, a fire insurance company, an institution for savings, a fraternal lodge (the Quascacunquen Lodge), and shipping and transportation. It also includes an 1861 certificate electing Moses Stockman as a Weigher of Coal.

Subseries B. Religious Organizations contains receipts, payment records, and a "deed of pew" pertaining to churches (North Church, Episcopal Church) and religious societies (the North Congregational Society and the Fourth Religious Society).

Series III. Legal Documents and Insurance Policies contains legal and insurance records, including mortgage and bankruptcy papers.

Series IV. Charles C. Stockman Materials contains legal documents, insurance policies, financial records, an auction poster (broadside), a letter from his brother Moses Stockman, Jr., and a business diary including entries about the weather covering the year 1875.
