Biographical / Historical
Philo Frank Packard was born on July 30, 1865, to Philo Willie and Annie E. Watson Packard, in Charleston, Massachusetts. He joined the military and served with a number of companies, including the Massachusetts Volunteer Milita, in which he was a Brigadier General. He also appears to have worked in shoe manufacturing (Ancestry).
Packard married Abbie Bertha Glines (1882-1966), of Beverly, in 1906. They do not appear to have had any children. Abbie and her sister, Ruth Glines Cannon (1893-1974), attended Salem State Normal School; Abbie went on to teach in Peabody, while her sister taught in Beverly. Philo died on April 7, 1915. Abbie and her sister lived together in the Packard's home until Ruth's death in 1974.
