Scope and Content Note
This collection contains two items created by John Lee: an account book and a diary. The account book covers the years 1842 until 1877, and contains not only accounts of Lee's legal business but also his farm accounts. The diary, which covers the years 1869 until 1870, describes Lee's legal business, the daily management of his farm, family, and local news. The diary is #20 in a set of diaries that were kept by Lee. Other volumes of Lee's diaries are owned by the Manchester Historical Society, in Manchester, Massachusetts.

Biographical Sketch
John Lee was born December 6, 1813, the son of Andrew and Fanny Lee, in Manchester, Massachusetts. He was a selectman, town clerk, and a Massachusetts State Representative to the General Court from 1847 until 1848, and in 1868. He was also a lawyer for the town of Manchester. John died in 1877.
