Historical Sketch

The Salem Redevelopment Authority Design Review Board is a volunteer committee appointed to assist the Salem Redevelopment Authority with its urban renewal. It reports to both the Salem Redevelopment Authority and the Salem Planning Board. It has played an active role in the redevelopment of downtown Salem, Massachusetts, since it was created in 1962. The Salem Redevelopment Authority requires that all improvements to the exterior of a structure and any changes to signage to properties located within the Urban Renewal Areas undergo design review.
