The Samuel G. Glover (Ship) Papers contains records of the purchase, operation, and sale of the ship as well as some papers related to the ship Pocahontas. It has been organized into six series.

Series I. Papers Related to the Purchase of the Ship contains a memo of sale for the Samuel G. Glover to Foster Waterman and others.

Series II. Papers Related to the Operation of the Ship contains bills and receipts, accounts, crew lists, legal documents, insurance policies, owners' instructions, and more for journeys from Boston to Hamburg. It has been divided into eight subseries.

Series III. Papers Related to the Sale of the Ship includes a memo of sale, correspondence, and instructions regarding the sale of the Samuel G. Glover to Nathaniel H. Emmons and others.

Series IV. Correspondence Between J. Winthrop Taylor and Forest Waterman consists of material related to Taylor's interest in the Samuel G. Glover.

Series V. Papers Related to the Ship Pocahontas contains a receipt for payment from the earnings of the ship, a request by her first mate for a position on another Waterman ship, and an account of his wages paid.

SERIES VI. Miscellaneous Material includes a receipt for passage of a passenger home, a letter from H. O. Briggs to the owners of the Samuel G. Glover, a request to Foster Waterman to purchase windows, and a letter concerning the handling of some damaged cargo.
