Asa Pingree Papers, 1794-1853

 Collection
Identifier: MSS 900

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains the papers of Asa Pingree and his wife, Annar Perkins Pingree. There are two volumes of ledgers documenting Pingree’s shoemaking business and other accounts related to running his farm and personal expenses. The collection also consists of loose receipts, legal documents, letters from his son David, a diary, and the inventory of his estate. There is a "family record" in which births and marriages were recorded by both Asa Pingree (1732-1811) and Asa Pingree Jr. (1770-1834), which may have been copied from a family Bible. The receipts for the living expenses of Annar Pingree, after the death of her husband, and a draft of her will are also included in this collection.
