Samuel Endicott was born on June 28, 1763 to John and Martha (Putnam) Endicott of Danvers, Massachusetts. Samuel had eleven brothers and sisters. The boys of the Endicott family received tutoring from an Englishman and were taught English composition, geography, mathematics, and navigation. In 1779, at the age of 16, Samuel went to sea for the first time, and became a prisoner in England at Dartmoor prison during the American Revolutionary War. Upon being released from prison at the end of the war, Samuel returned to the family's farm in Danvers, Orchard Farm, but then returned to the sea with his brothers soon after.

In 1799 Samuel was sent to Hanover, Massachusetts, to oversee the building of a new ship, Cincinnatus, for the firm Peabody and Perkins, which he later commanded. He was also master on the schooner Sally, ship Mount Vernon, schooner Two Brothers, and schooner Active. He was part owner of the brig De Witt Clinton, schooner Jeremiah, bark Patriot, schooner Rebecca, and ship Suffolk. He was sole owner of the schooner Thomas. In 1805, after retiring from the sea, he followed mercantile pursuits, becoming a ship owner and merchant.

On May 18, 1794, Samuel married Elizabeth Putnam, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Putnam. The couple lived on Orchard Farm until 1796, when Samuel purchased a house at the westerly corner of Bridge and Winter Streets in Salem, where they lived until 1816. In May 1816, he purchased a home at 359 Essex Street. Samuel and Elizabeth had five children together: Samuel, Elizabeth (Eliza), Martha, William Putnam, and Clarissa (Clara). Samuel died from illness in 1828.

John Endicott was born on January 13, 1765 to John and Martha (Putnam) Endicott of Danvers, Massachusetts. Like his brother Samuel (1763-1828), John was involved in shipping. During the War of 1812, John took an active part in privateering. His first wife was Mary; his second wife was Fidelia Kettelle. John died on November 29, 1834.

William Putnam Endicott was born on March 5, 1803, the youngest son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Putnam) Endicott. He graduated from Harvard College in 1822, and went to work in the counting room of Joseph Peabody in Salem, where he remained for some years. William later went to sea commanding several ships, making voyages to Russia, India, the West Indies, and South America. In 1835 he became a member of the East India Marine Society and in 1844 he represented Salem in the Great and General Courts.

On January 31, 1826 he married Mary Crowninshield, the daughter of Jacob and Sarah (Gardner) Crowninshield. Only two of their four children lived through childhood: William Crowninshield and Sarah Rogers. On March 12, 1838, Mary died. On December 4, 1844 William married his second wife, Harriet French Peabody, the widow of Joseph William Peabody, and the daughter of Josiah and Rebecca (Blanchard) French. Harriet owned an estate in Milford, New Hampshire, where the family spent a number of their summers. William died on March 11, 1888.

Elizabeth (Eliza) Endicott was born on April 28, 1797 to Samuel and Elizabeth (Putnam) Endicott. She married Augustus Perry on January 9, 1838. She died on February 6, 1866.

Clarissa (Clara) Endicott was born on December 16, 1807 to Samuel and Elizabeth (Putnam) Endicott. She married George Peabody on September 5, 1827, and they had seven children together: Clara Endicott, George Jr., Joseph Augustus, Ellen, Eliza Endicott, Mary Crowninshield, and Fanny. Clara died on April 18, 1892, a few months after her husband.

Martha Endicott was born on November 27, 1799 to Samuel and Elizabeth (Putnam) Endicott. She married Francis Peabody on July 7, 1823, and they had six children: Joseph, Samuel Endicott, Martha Endicott, Francis, Elizabeth Putnam, and Francis Peabody. Martha died on March 12, 1891.

Charles Moses Endicott was born December 6, 1793 to Moses (1767-1807) and Anna (Towne) Endicott. Moses was the brother of Samuel Endicott (1763-1828). Charles appears to have worked as a supercargo on some of his uncle's ships. He died on December 14, 1863.
