The Albert Gardner Goodwin papers contain correspondence between Goodwin and his family members. Included in the collection are transcripts of the letters; it is unclear why these were made or when they were made. All of the material appears to have been bound together at some point, as there are holes punched in the sides of the letters and transcripts.

Biographical Sketch
Albert Gardner Goodwin was born on May 18, 1802 to Nathaniel and Lydia Goodwin, in Beverly, Massachusetts. He was captain of the whaler Hercules. Goodwin was married to Eliza Ann Bartlett, and they had at least two children, Nathaniel (?) and Lizzie. Goodwin died in 1887.
