Biographical Sketch

Galen Benjamin Howe was born on October 16, 1868 to Benjamin and Anne Jane Richardson Howe of Middleton, Massachusetts. He married Ruth Conant of Topsfield, Massachusetts on June 27, 1900; Ruth died on February 27, 1901. Howe remarried to Mrs. Esther Howe by 1936, although the exact date is unknown. He worked as a schoolteacher (circa 1912) and clerk of Middleton's Evangelical Congregational Church (circa 1924-1938).

Anne Jane Richardson Howe was born in Middleton, Massachusetts on February 24, 1837 to Daniel Richardson and Olive Berry Perkins Richardson. She married Benjamin Howe on December 25, 1856, a man nine years her senior (born August 8, 1828). The couple lived in Middleton and had three children: Annie Johnson (18 April 1858), Nellie Colburn (3 May 1864), and Galen Benjamin (16 October 1868). Benjamin Howe died in Middleton on March 24, 1889.
