The Nathaniel F. Robinson Papers is a collection of correspondence from Nathaniel to his family in Salem during the American Civil War. In the correspondence Robinson describes army life, and troop movements, he also discusses the Emancipation Proclamation. This collection also contains Nathaniel's discharge from the army.

Biographical / Historical

Nathaniel Frothingham Robinson was born October 29, 1843, in Salem, Massachusetts to Martha C. and Elbridge G. Robinson (Ancestry). He was a corporal in Company A, 50th regiment of the Massachusetts Volunteers, and fought during the American Civil War; he was discharged in 1863, and died in 1865
