Provenance

Undated transcript of a letter from Charles W. Lovett to his parents (folder 1) was donated by Alice B. Lovett, on June 23, 1958 (Acc 14,482). Documents in folders 1, 2, and 3 were donated by Carl Crossman on April 29, 1975 (Acc 20,642). Copies of bills of lading from the ship Robert Treat, dated 1857 (folder 2), were donated by Lester Littlefield on April 24, 1972 (Acc 19,880). Volume of notes (folder 4) was donated by Alice Paine on April 14, 1960 (Acc 15,060). This collection was formerly cataloged as Ship. Mss. 40.
