Collection of correspondence to Dorothy Downs. The majority of the correspondence is from Philip Little, and includes a few doodles by him. The collection also contains cellulose nitrate negatives that Downs had sent to Philip Kappel. The collection is arranged in chronological order.

Biographical / Historical

Dorothy Downs (approximately 1899-) lived in Boston, Massachusetts in the late 1920s to early 1930s. In the 1931 directory her occupation is listed as "plans examiner" (Ancestry.com). In the 1940 census she is listed as being an engineer working in the fire prevention industry (Ancestry.com); she also served as director and women's chairman of the National Safety Council. In 1964, she was a safety engineer for an insurance company (Boston Globe).
