Scope and contents
Side One: Martin Brunor recording from Rurutu. He is talking about many topics, including: Rurutu, finances, translations, the bible, weather, Vitaria, conversation with Taeoee (not in English), local fishing, children singing in another language
Side Two: Reviewing a mormon missionary's private diary, includes recordings from the mormon's diary. Discusses trying to convert the native people to mormonism (the people of Rurutu are largely Protestant). Briefly discusses the changing scenary with the people moving towards growing coconut trees because of the influence of "the white man". Discusses money--says the locals prefer him to run up debts so that he has to send them things from the states; the speaking of French on Rurutu; children speaking in another language; electric razors; talks about traveling to Vitalia; local belief of ghosts/spirits
