The Peele Family Papers reflect the shipping and merchant activities of Jonathan Peele, Jr., and Willard Peele of Salem, Massachusetts.
Prince Family Papers, 1732-1839, undated
The bulk of the Prince Family Papers reflects the legal work of John Prince (1782-1848) as a clerk for the Essex County Courts, a notary public, a justice of the peace, and an attorney active in Salem (circa 1804-1839).
Salem Marine Insurance Company Records, 1815-1897, undated
The Salem Marine Insurance Company Records include a volume of directors' meeting minutes, a volume of stockholder meeting minutes, and 35 volumes of marine policies. Except for two missing volumes the marine policies form a straight run from the company's beginning in 1856 to six years before its dissolution. It also contains a ledger showing dividends paid to the stockholders (1858-1883). The collection also contains material relating to French and Danish spoliation claims.
