Abstract

The Josiah Dudley papers contain business papers from Dudley's time as a captain, such as ship's papers, correspondence, and financial papers. Also included in this collection are papers belonging to the Brown, Kinsman, Holmes, and Bonnit families, in addition to miscellaneous notes and fragments of unidentifiable documents.

Sailing Ship Card Collection, 1857-1894, 1918, 1990, undated

Abstract

Sailing ship cards have been identified as the earliest form of multi-color advertising in the United States. Printed to announce the departure of commercial ship sailings for both passengers and freight companies, the ephemeral nature of these cards makes them very rare. The collection contains 1,296 cards, 1,193 of which are unique, and 103 of which are duplicates.

William Goodell Journals of Voyages, 1817-1819

Scope and Contents This collection contains four journals of voyages Goodell kept while onboard the ship Integrity, and a copy of Commercial Regulations in Java and Madura, translated from Dutch. The first journal documents the Integrity's journey from New York towards India, with stops in Penang and Sumatra, and includes sketches of the local topography; extra pages have been sewn into this book.
